Starfish Prime- Extinction Of Human Life

Starfish Prime was a high-altitude nuclear test conducted by the United States on July 9, 1962. The bomb was 500 times more powerful than the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It was sent into space from the Hawaiian Islands and exploded at an altitude of 400 km.

 Before the test, scientists were confident that the bomb would explode at an altitude of 400 km, where it would not have any adverse effect on human life, but within a few minutes, many side effects were seen. 

• It became day everywhere for 15 minutes after the explosion. 
• The Starfish Prime explosion produced a much larger electromagnetic pulse (EMP) than expected, knocking out all street lights.
• It caused massive electrical damage in Hawaii,
• It created an artificial radioactive zone around the Earth for about 12 years. There was a serious possibility that it could destroy the zero gravity region. 
• After that explosion, scientists became scared and they claimed that any such explosion could end human life within a few hours.
